Heart attack (myocardial infarction)

The PDS requires confirmation by a registered doctor who is an appropriate medical specialist.

This is a required element of the policy definition.

Select the one evidence path represented by Triggers 3–7 in the published graph.

Trigger 7 selects the published branch for considering other medically recognised tests.

Demo source excerpt

This excerpt supports only the narrow Heart Attack definition shown above. It is not a complete coverage or payment assessment.

We will pay a claim upon the diagnosis of a heart attack, confirmed by a registered doctor who is an appropriate medical specialist and evidenced by a typical rise and/or fall of cardiac biomarkers with at least one value above the 99th percentile of the upper reference range PLUS one of: signs and symptoms of ischemia; new serial ECG changes; pathological Q waves; or qualifying imaging evidence. If the above tests are inconclusive we will consider other appropriate and medically recognised tests. Other acute coronary syndromes, including but not limited to angina pectoris, are excluded.
